Organization Background:
MENAFem  envisions a new global economic system based on intersectional feminist principles, human rights, and ecological justice driven by the needs of communities and the marginalized, in particular in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and beyond.

Our mission is to confront poverty, deprivation, inequalities and lack of substantive democratic rights by empowering communities and vulnerable groups to resist all forms of injustices and inequalities. The network was established in 2023 and consists of local and regional organizations dedicated to achieving equitable development and fostering a just, ecologically, sustainable feminist economy. The movement targets influencing policies related to debt management, economic justice, and ecological justice. This involves organizing and mobilizing advocacy campaigns to effect policy change, producing alternative narratives, knowledge, and research, and challenging unjust economic systems

About the Role

MenaFem is looking for a Policy and Advocacy Officer to drive its work on global economic governance, focusing on debt, climate finance, and the reform of institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and the United Nations.

This role is central to advancing a feminist and anti-colonial vision of economic justice. You will contribute to challenging structural inequalities, extractive economic systems, and power imbalances between the Global North and Global South—while strengthening MenaFem’s voice in global decision-making spaces.

What You’ll Do

Shape feminist policy and research

  • Lead research on debt, climate finance, and global economic governance
  • Produce sharp, accessible policy briefs grounded in feminist and anti-colonial analysis
  • Examine how macroeconomic policies impact women, care systems, and marginalized communities
  • Translate complex research into clear, strategic policy positions

Engage in global policy spaces

  • Track and contribute to key global processes, including:
    • Financing for Development
    • Climate negotiations
    • Broader economic governance debates
  • Help shape MenaFem’s positions on transforming global governance systems
  • Bring feminist and anti-colonial perspectives into international policy discussions

Drive advocacy and influence

  • Prepare talking points and briefing materials for high-level engagements
  • Support advocacy with governments, UN agencies, and IFIs
  • Contribute to key global moments such as:
    • Spring Meetings
    • COP processes
    • Financing for Development spaces
  • Ensure all advocacy challenges dominant market-led narratives and centers economic justice

Build alliances and strengthen movements

  • Collaborate with civil society networks and global coalitions
  • Align messaging across partners and regions
  • Support collective advocacy that amplifies Global South and feminist voices

Support strategy, reporting, and growth

  • Produce monthly and quarterly reports
  • Track advocacy impact and influence
  • Contribute to donor proposals and reporting
  • Support coordination across teams and key processes

What You’ll Bring

Experience & Knowledge

  • 3–6 years in policy, advocacy, or research
  • Strong understanding of feminist economics and anti-colonial frameworks
  • Experience with global governance and UN processes
  • Knowledge of international financial institutions (IFIs)
  • Experience in proposal development and reporting

Skills

  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent writing and communication
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into clear messages
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
