Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Climate and Economic Justice Officer. In this role, you will play a key part in advancing our climate advocacy efforts, conducting research, engaging with stakeholders, and developing campaigns to address climate and economic challenges in the MENA region.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on international financial institutions’ economic and climate policies
- Conduct thorough research on pertinent topics and generate high-quality reports that contribute to the organization’s knowledge base and strategic initiatives.
- Develop campaigns addressing debt, climate, and policies for MENA countries’ development financing needs
- Advocate for climate and economic justice with organizations such as the International Monetary Fund
- Write compelling articles, policy briefings, reports, and background briefs tailored to diverse audiences, effectively communicating complex ideas.
- Manage project budgets effectively
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders from various sectors and backgrounds, including community-based organizations, governmental bodies, and international agencies.
- Provide logistical and administrative support as needed
- Work independently to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, maintaining a keen attention to detail and ensuring deliverables meet high standards.
- Utilize experience in project management, grant writing, and fundraising to support organizational sustainability and growth.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in conducting research and producing high-quality reports
- Experience in writing articles, policy briefings, reports, and background briefs for various audiences
- Strong reporting skills and ability to manage project budgets
- Familiarity with policymaking processes in the MENA region and internationally on climate and economic issues
- Strong communication and writing skills in both English and Arabic
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders from different sectors and backgrounds, including community-based organizations, national and international organizations, and government agencies
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
- Experience in project management, grant writing, and fundraising
- Commitment to feminist principles and intersectional approaches
- Demonstrated commitment to working within an anti-oppression and intersectional framework/comprehensive performance of the job function
