Inequity, Inequality, Inaction: A Civil Society Equity Review of the Post-Paris Climate Regime (2025)
MENAFem shares the newly released global report:
Inequity, Inequality, Inaction: A Civil Society Equity Review of the Post-Paris Climate Regime (2025).
The report is endorsed by more than 500 civil society organisations, feminist groups, labour unions, youth movements, and climate justice networks across all regions. It provides a rigorous and critical assessment of global climate action a decade after the Paris Agreement, exposing the continued failure of Global North countries to deliver their fair share of emissions reductions and climate finance, while many countries in the Global South are undertaking far more ambitious action despite severe constraints.
Anchored in a strong equity and justice analysis, the report shows how the climate crisis is inseparable from structural inequalities, colonial legacies, elite capture, and the concentration of wealth and power. It calls for transformative change that goes beyond technical mitigation measures, including a fundamental overhaul of the international financial architecture, the phase-out of fossil fuels, and a just global transition centred on people’s rights, well-being, and ecological integrity.
By publishing this report, MENAFem reaffirms its commitment to advancing intersectional, feminist, and justice-based climate action and to supporting research and advocacy that challenge global economic structures and amplify the demands of communities in the MENA region and the Global South.
